Location: San Francisco
In exactly one week from today, I take off to Ensenada, Mexico for my best friend's bachelorette party! We are boarding a cruise out of Long, Beach CA, and I'm coming in a day early to stay the night with her in San Diego to catch up by ourselves, go out and have some drinks, and talk about the few months she has left before she's officially a Mrs.! These photos are reflections of just a few of the things I'm most looking forward to while we set sail! Did I mention this is also my first time being a bridesmaid?! I'm so excited, if you can't tell.
One thing I've learned as I've gotten older, and friendships have twisted, turned, grown or sizzled, is that the most important things you can do for your closest friends, is actually, genuinely be happy for them. Their decisions might not make the most sense to you at all times, but that's fine, they don't have to, they're not yours to make anyways. But be supportive in those decisions, regardless. If your friends don't accept your support and instead push you out to forge a closer bond with their significant other, then maybe they weren't the best of friends you thought in the beginning, and that might be a relationship worth moving past. There has to be an equal sense of respect, loyalty and understanding between each party - can't be one-sided.
And with my bride to be, we have always had that sense of respect, general understanding and willingness to look past any sort of flaw(s), because at the end of the day, we love each other and know that we have the best intentions in mind. If you see someone in your life five years from now, after you've come to these sorts of realizations, those are relationships worth trying for.
I cannot wait to celebrate with her, we have some incredibly fun things planned for her while we are on board, and for me, I'm getting to shack up with the bride, in our huge suite with an ocean view!
The last time we went on a cruise together, I was sick nearly the whole time in our hole in the wall room with no window, so the idea of an ocean view to see where we are, up or down, rocking or still, will be a huge help to my tummy!
Can't wait to share more of our adventures in the week or two over the course of our cruise.
